Our volunteers make all the difference!
If you want to put your skills, talents, and passions to work to help the animals, we have lots of things for you to do! It truly takes a village (and so much work!) to keep Good Karma chugging along. Whatever your passion or talent may be, we can find a way to put it to use for animals in need.
What type of volunteer opportunities exist?
So many! Whether you want to volunteer at fun adoption events in the community or behind a computer screen in the comfort of your own home, we need your help! Here are just a few things you can do to help us accomplish our mission
Office: We have a rescue office that requires daily help from volunteers — it is Located on Commercial Boulevard near the Turnpike in Fort Lauderdale. We need help with admin work such as data entry, organizing and distributing donations and supplies, and help on wellness and surgery days.
Veterinary: Are you a budding vet or vet tech, or just interested in the veterinary field? Get hands-on experience by volunteering on wellness, surgery, or TNR days.
Cattery: We have catteries located in pet stores throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties that need volunteers daily to come care for our cats.
Events: If you are outgoing and would like to be the face of Good Karma in the community, we could use your help at our adoption and fundraising events. These events take place at pet stores, retail stores, restaurants, fairs, and community events. We need help manning our tables, talking to potential donors and adopters, selling Good Karma merch, and helping care for the animals at the event.
Adoptions: Every step of the adoption process requires help from volunteers. We need folks to do in-person and FaceTime home visits; call veterinarians and landlords; research HOA rules; contact potential adopters and fosters; and help keep our records.
Creative and Professional: If you have a special creative skill, such as photography or writing, we would love to talk to you to see how you could help Good Karma. If you have professional experience in marketing, social media, web design, graphic arts, bookkeeping, or anything that could be useful for an animal rescue / small business, we could definitely use your help too!
What requirements are there for volunteers?
You must be 18 or older to volunteer. Minors 14+ can perform some volunteer roles with their parents present.
Can I earn service hours for school by volunteering?
Yes, service hours are available for fostering and volunteering for Good Karma. Fill out an application if you are interested.
